The Parthenon is a famous temple, built by Pericles around 2,400 years ago! It was the most lavish temple the ancient Greeks had ever seen, and emphasized the power of Athens. It was dedicated to Athena, the goddess of wisdom, who, the Athenians believed, watched over of Athens.

Ancient Greek architecture has inspired many artists and many buildings throughout time. Greek architecture is one of the many gifts the world received from the ancient Greeks.
